Pawsitively Seniors

Pawsitively Seniors is a program designed for low-income seniors whose quality of life would be enhanced by the many positive effects of pet ownership. Through a Resource Coalition, several cat/kitten rescues are able to help seniors and their pets. PALnv provides food, litter and donations to the coalition members. The food is donated by Walmart, animal welfare groups, individual donors, and volunteers helping with the coalition. The litter is donated by World’s Best Litter.

PALnv has received a grant from The Gene Haas Foundation to help seniors with the medical care of their pet cats. The amount to be given is based on the cat’s health problem and the senior’s Income. The grant will help with spay/neuter, medication, surgeries and foster care if the senior needs to go to the hospital or passes away. Again, this project is carried out through the Resource Coalition partner organizations.

Qualifying Seniors are defined as age 60 and over with an income of $1800 per month or less.  For seniors who make more than $1800, exceptions may be considered on case-by-case basis.

Pawsitively Senior cats are defined as 8 years and older, who have been spayed/neutered and are current on vaccinations with general good health. Special needs cats are those who have manageable behavioral or medical issues.

The Pawsitively Seniors program is made possible with a generous grant from the Gene Haas Foundation.
